Once da ns ocean, waste is driven by ocean currents and winds. In each ocean, there is a zone converging currents that ensures that the waste are concentrated. These concentrations of waste has been dubbed 'continents' waste since they can span several kilometers. In fact, by their decomposition, these 'continents' are more like a toxic soup.

And that's how pollution is becoming one else's problem! A simple act of negligence, reproduced throughout the world by hundreds of millions of people, have the results we just spread. Like what it would take so little of each one for a healthier planet!

How time flies: it's already the end of the summer! The bottom of the air seems to cool off, school supplies have reappeared in the windows of shops and leaves of certain plants have begun to change color. The project also sees the end of its second season approaching, or the end of October.

It's time to give one last effort before the cold sets in! Let the clean channel all winter for the fish and the many birds that live there are better off until next spring!

Please join us during a cleanup this morning Saturday, August 28 from 9am to 12pm. We will start at center services to visitors and will head to the Bridge Rockfield.

Gloves, tongs waste bags, water and snacks are provided! (And I promise you my famous oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip!)

Activity cleaning Wednesday, August 4 at the island

This Wednesday, August 4, between 10am and 13h, the project team The Lachine Canal takes off and cohort 2010 Katimavik will be implemented on the island Charlevoix for a cleanup of the banks. The public is also invited to join the group which will meet at the southern gateway Atwater 10am.

Snacks and water are provided, along with work gloves, pliers, garden and bags for collecting waste. Wearing closed shoes and a hat is recommended!

Come help us make the Lachine Canal, a healthy living environment for all!
